The goal of CCLS Houston Portuguese Program is for each student to develop fluency through interactive approach, incorporating proven techniques to reinforce classroom and multimedia instructions, such as role-play, storytelling, information transfer, games, reports, problem-solving, interviews, and discussions.

CCLS Language School in Houston teaches the Seven Levels of Brazilian Portuguese — the predominant language of South America — to also build confidence in graduates when representing their business in a natural form of speech. Strengthening relationships with Portuguese-speakers business associates surpassing the standard customer approach expectations.

APPROACH: Communicative. Grammar only used to aid the communication skills effectiveness.

PLANNING: The planning is based on the "Novo Avenida Brasil" book immersed in cultural aspects such as interpersonal interaction, politics, economy, music, arts, etc. Our program strongly focuses on enabling students to communicate appropriately and socially for ordinary or business-like situations. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing is part of the integrative program. Phonetic training and self-monitoring play an important role in the course to enhance pronunciation as natural as possible.

TECHNIQUES: Small classes enable reach teacher-student and student-student interactions. Tasks and activities in the classroom range from highly guided exercises — answering questions from a text — to very communicative statements saying why one liked or disliked something. In addition to techniques such as role-playing, brainstorming, storytelling, information transfer, games, reports, problem-solving, interviews, and discussions.

MATERIALS:Activity book, CDs, and culture related texts. Authentic literature from Brazil.

TEACHING STAFF:All CCLS instructors are qualified and experienced teachers certified by CCLS.

EVALUATION:Students’ and teachers’ performances are periodically evaluated by CCLS. Oral and Written students’ evaluations are taken throughout the course in a regular exercise form. Pinpointing strengths and weaknesses to target every opportunity area each student needs to work on.

COURSE DURATION:There are seven levels of instruction from Basic to Upper-Intermediate. Each level with 60 hours conveying a faster improvement for Romance languages speakers and with at least two classes weekly.
